The Three-Two & South-North Era

Three Kingdoms (Eastern Wu): The Cradle of the Regime

During the formation of the Eastern Wu state, Wu Commandery (Suzhou) was far more than a mere administrative district; it was the strategic and human resource hub of the kingdom.

The Power Base: Sun Quan utilized Suzhou as a primary base during his early governance of Jiangnan. The city’s security and wealth provided the necessary stability for the regime to challenge the north.

Rise of the “Four Clans”: The iconic local families—Gu, Lu, Zhu, and Zhang—emerged as the backbone of the state. By producing legendary ministers and generals like Lu Xun and Gu Yong, they established a governance model of “shared rule” between the Sun royalty and local gentry.
